A history rich in progress and creativity, inventions and inventors, and milestones in transportation that changed the nation and the world can be found in Carillon Historical Park. Situated on a beautiful 65-acre site between the Great Miami River and a glacial moraine, the Park shares the history of the Miami Valley from its founding in 1796 when a group of early settlers first set foot in what would become Dayton, Ohio.
Visitors learn important contributions made in Dayton through the Park’s many historical buildings, artifacts and exhibits. These include the 1905 Wright Flyer lll, the world’s first practical airplane, invented and flown in Dayton by Orville and Wilbur Wright.
